December was the worst month of the entire last year when it comes to passenger train punctuality.
Only 88.2 percent of 82,093 departures reached their final station on time, writes the Swedish Transport Administration.
This is a decrease of 2.3 percentage points compared to the previous month, November, when 90.5 percent of trains arrived on time. It is also by far the worst December figure in the last nine years.
Bad weather, unauthorized persons on the trail and the pandemic are pointed out as explanations.
If you combine the entire year 2021, punctuality lands at 92.0 percent.
The railway industry's definition of punctuality is the correct time plus five minutes. If a train arrives at its final station 5.59 minutes after the scheduled time, it is considered on time, anything after that is considered late. (TT)
