Delta Airlines reported better-than-market results in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year, helped by well-filled planes during the weekends.

The company also predicts even better development for the current quarter, writes Reuters.

Delta expects the performance measure called total unit revenue to rise to 4.5 percent during the first quarter of the year – in that case an increase of 2.5 percentage points.

”"We enter 2018 with significant momentum and with every unit delivering positive passenger revenue for the first time in five years," said the company's CEO Glen Hauenstein, according to the news agency.

Delta's net income for the fourth quarter of last year was $0.80 per share, including a one-time charge of $150 million related to changes in the tax system. Excluding this item, the result was $0.96, higher than the $0.88 expected by analysts on average, according to Thomson Reuters.
