The Dragon Gate hotel and restaurant complex at the E4 exit to Älvkarleby is for sale again. The project, which began 20 years ago, is listed for SEK 40 million, reports Uppsala New Newspaper
”"Even though we bought it for a small amount, we have invested a lot of money in Dragon Gate," says co-owner Thomas Sonesson to UNT.
It was in 2004 that businessman Li Jingchun bought an old hotel on the site, to transform it into ”China’s window to Sweden.” The area includes a large Chinese-style building and a large statue depicting a Buddhist saint.
But the project has been plagued by health and safety violations and delays, and has changed hands several times. The last time was in 2018, when it took over a year to sell the property, which has mostly sat empty.
