The hotel industry in Sweden lost three-quarters of its revenue in November. Now the industry organization Visita is demanding swift action from the government to save jobs.

Revenues for hotels in Sweden decreased by 74 percent in November compared to the same month last year, according to figures from Benchmarking Alliance compiled by Visita. Compared to October, this is more than a halving of revenues from the month before.

The hotel industry has been hit hard by the pandemic, with tens of thousands of people in the industry having already lost their jobs or been given notice. Now the industry and employers' organization Visita is warning that more jobs and companies could disappear and is calling for swift action.

”"The crisis is here and now and the support must begin to be paid out immediately. It is unacceptable that the money is delayed due to the slowness of the government and the authorities," says Visita CEO Jonas Siljhammar.
