Two American tourists were found on Monday morning on a part of the Eiffel Tower in Paris that is inaccessible to the public, reports Guardian.

”"They appear to have been stuck at the scene because they were so drunk," prosecutors told AFP.

The couple had managed to evade security, climbed down from the top of the tower and spent the night under the stars between the second and third floors of the tower. According to Eiffel Tower operations manager Sete, they ”posed no immediate threat.”.

The men were taken to the Seventh District Police Office where they were questioned.

The discovery of the tourists delayed the opening of the tower by an hour on Monday morning.
