Drunk fellow passengers, screaming children and bad smells top the list of things that annoy Swedes most during air travel, according to a recent survey by travel agency Ticket. One in ten would even consider paying extra to avoid sitting among children.
Flying is often the kick-off to a vacation – but for many, the behavior of fellow travelers can quickly ruin the atmosphere on board. Travel agency Ticket's latest survey shows that what irritates Swedes the most during a flight are insufferable or drunk fellow passengers. Children who scream and cry and people with bad body odor also irritate many.
“The atmosphere on board affects the entire travel experience, especially when you are in a small space for several hours. It is clear that many people demand peace and quiet, and some are even prepared to pay extra to avoid disturbing elements during the flight,” says Louise Hellgren, Product Manager at Ticket.
The results reflect a clear desire for peace and quiet in the air – so much so that 10 percent of those surveyed would consider paying extra to sit in a child-free zone. This is not necessarily a negative attitude towards children – but for many, flying is an opportunity to relax and the environment on board plays a big role.
