An earthquake occurred in Crete, Greece, on Thursday evening. 

Locals are reporting how the entire island shook and the Swedish travel agency Tui has sent out an emergency text message to the 3,000 Swedish travelers who are on site. 

– We have asked them to prepare for aftershocks, says Adam Györki at Tui.

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake has struck the Greek island of Crete, according to the USGS. 

An emergency text message has been sent out to people in the area urging them to seek shelter, local media reports.

So far, there are no reports of buildings or people being damaged in connection with the earthquake. 

But according to local media, the atmosphere among the locals was tense.

Tui: 3,000 Swedish travelers on the island 

Also the Swedish travel agency Tui has sent out emergency text messages to the 3,000 Swedish travelers who are on the island. 

– We sent out an update to our customers a while ago. We have asked them to prepare for aftershocks, but we are closely monitoring what is happening and right now the situation appears to be stable, says Adam Györki at Tui.
