The California-based company Archer Aviation is interested in investing $118 million (equivalent to SEK 1.2 billion) in an electric aircraft factory adjacent to an airport in the state of Georgia.
Archer wants to build a kind of flying taxi that, with the help of six propellers, will be able to take off like a helicopter, then redirect the propellers and travel forward like an airplane.
The vehicles will have space for one driver and four passengers and will be used for shorter flights in primarily urban environments.
The company states that it expects to initially produce up to 650 aircraft annually, and that production could begin towards the end of 2024.
