The airline Norwegian is concerned that aircraft engine manufacturer Rolls Royce is having bigger problems than previously feared with engines for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Compressor defects that have shortened the life of engines have been found in another thirty engines of a different model, Rolls Royce announced on Monday. This requires an inspection of the aircraft fleet.
Norwegian is waiting for eleven new Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
”"As we have communicated previously, our summer traffic is doing well but our Dreamliners are a concern," the company's communications manager Lasse Sandaker-Nielsen told Reuters.
Norwegian has taken into account that aircraft may be forced to remain on the ground and has rented extra capacity to counteract this.
