The government is introducing an entry ban from the UK after a new and more contagious variant of the coronavirus was discovered in the country, Interior Minister Mikael Damberg announced at a press conference.
An entry ban is also being introduced from Denmark.
The government has decided to stop all passenger flights from the UK from 4:00 PM today until Wednesday at 4:00 PM, says Foreign Minister Ann Linde.
Everyone who has traveled from the UK since December 12 is urged to get tested, says Johan Carlsson, Director General of the Public Health Authority.
– Anyone coming from the UK is further advised to stay at home and avoid contact with others as much as possible for up to a week, i.e. seven days after arrival. Testing should be repeated on day five after arrival, says Johan Carlson.
Employers are urged to ensure that staff who have traveled from the UK are tested.
The upcoming vaccination will not be affected, says Johan Carlsson. Transport of vaccines is exempt from the entry ban.
