There were no escape routes when Liseberg's new water park Oceana caught fire in February, reports the radio program Kaliber and P4 Gothenburg.

Among other things, people who were on the fourth and fifth floors were forced to get to the third floor where there was an escape route. Instead, several people had to run through the smoke.

Fire experts are critical of the lack of escape routes in the tower, where the other floors were not classified as floors.

According to that fire protection description, it was assessed that escape routes were not required.

– I see difficulties in making an escape route just for the construction period, but given how it turned out, the answer must probably be yes, it would probably be good to have an escape route up there, says fire engineer Joakim Sandström.

NCC, which is the main contractor for the construction, says that they understand that they have followed the existing rules but otherwise does not want to comment on the criticism.
