Escape Travel expands its offering for solo travelers

Escape Travel is expanding its offering for people traveling on their own. The initiative includes special single trips and selected river cruises where the organizer removes the supplement for a private cabin.

During the year, the tour operator has carried out hiking trips for solo travelers in the Italian regions of Apulia and Liguria and is planning more departures next year.

– All our trips always have a few soloists on board. We have also sneakily started the singles theme on some hiking trips and sometimes offer a single room supplement, says Escape Travel's marketing manager Susanna Silverklo.

The initiative is being implemented against the backdrop of increased interest in traveling without one's own company. Escape Travel refers, among other things, to travel expert Lottie Knutson, who in Aftonbladet describes solo travel as more established, especially on group trips with a guide and a common theme.

Single trips already within the group

The concept has previously existed within Escape Travel Group through the Norwegian sister company Carpe Diem, which arranges trips exclusively for solo travelers.

In Sweden, Escape Travel has started offering more singles-themed hiking trips. Next year, Umbria will be on the program, with hikes and tastings of local products.

– There should always be an offer for those who like to take charge of themselves on the trip, says Maria Frimodig, operations manager for private travel at Escape Travel.

Removing single cabin surcharges on certain departures

Escape Travel also has a recurring offer on certain river cruises where people traveling alone can book their own cabin without the regular single cabin supplement.

The cruises are not special single trips but are carried out in mixed Swedish groups with tour guides.

Escape Travel states that more travelers have started using the solo offers. However, no information is provided on the size of the sales increase or the percentage of the company's customers who travel alone.
