On Wednesday, the European Commission approved Danish state aid in the form of guarantees of 137 million euros to SAS for damages caused by the corona outbreak.

The Commission announced this in a press release.

”"The airline industry has been particularly hard hit by the coronavirus outbreak. The Danish guarantees compensate SAS for part of the damage the company has suffered from the coronavirus outbreak," said Margrethe Vestager, Commission Vice-President for Competition, in a statement.

The exact size of the damage suffered by SAS will be calculated after the corona crisis based on SAS's results for 2020. The Commission must approve the calculation method in advance.

If Denmark's state support exceeds the damage SAS suffers, there is a possibility of claiming back the money.
