The European Commission's competition authority on Tuesday approved Air France-KLM, Delta Airlines and Virgin Group's deal for the airline Virgin Atlantic, after investigating the matter, writes Reuters.

The European Commission claims that there is no reason to believe that competition in the airline industry would be threatened by the deal, according to the news agency.

In the deal, Air France-KLM buys 31 percent of Virgin Atlantic from British financier Richard Branson's Virgin Group, which means that the airline group is now jointly owned by the Franco-Dutch airline, American Delta and Virgin Group.
