EU Court: Forwarded flight should be considered cancelled

Remove

A flight departure should be considered cancelled if it is moved forward by more than one hour, according to the European Court of Justice. The decision could make it easier for travelers to get compensation for delayed flights.

According to the court, such a move could lead to ”serious inconvenience to passengers.”.

In cases where a flight is moved forward for a longer period of time, there is a right to compensation, and airlines may be required to pay 250 to 600 euros, approximately 2,500 to 6,100 kronor, depending on the length of the flight, according to the court. This applies, for example, when communication about the delayed departure was late.
