Visit Skåne AB is granted five million kronor in EU support to increase the pace of green transition in tourism in Skåne. As a partner in a project together with other tourism regions around the North Sea, Visit Skåne will work to reduce waste and water and energy consumption in places with high visitor pressure.
In Skåne, tourism is an important and powerful tool in the sustainable development of the future and contributes to growth in the tourism industry and a higher quality of life for visitors and residents. Tourism is also the third largest export industry in the world, and can be a driving force in the development of entire regions and countries. But without governance, it can also have a negative impact. For sustainable development, it is important to pull in the same direction, which is now happening in the project Speeding up Sustainability Skills in Tourism North Sea Region, 3ST.
The aim of the interregional project is to accelerate the transition to sustainable systems for resource and energy efficiency in tourism destinations that experience periods of high visitor pressure.
The work is being done together with the municipalities and will benefit small-scale community-based tourism. It will also give the industry a head start that will make it easier to meet future demands for change.
The focus and goals of the project Speeding up Sustainability Skills in Tourism North Sea Region, 3ST, are consistent with Visit Skånes AB's strategic direction towards 2030 and have a direct connection to the roadmap, Skåne – where tourism matters!

Speeding up Sustainability Skills in Tourism North Sea Region is an interregional project with eleven partners, eight of which are DMO/clusters and three from academia/research. Lead Partner is NV Economische Impuls Zeeland,Visit. Skåne participates as a project partner.
The project runs until February 2027 and has a total budget of 4,403,067 euros, of which the budget for ViS AB is 464,426 euros.
