The EU may allow vaccinated American tourists this summer.

The New York Times reports that the exact timeline will depend on the virus situation in the US and Europe.

The newspaper refers to statements from Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.

”"The Americans, from what I can see, are using vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency. That will allow for free movement and travel to the EU," she said, according to the newspaper.

Last week, the United States issued a "Do Not Travel" advisory for about 80 percent of the world's countries.
