EU removed from British passports

Britain has started issuing passports without the text ”European Union” on the front, even though the country has not yet left the EU.

There has already been a decision to start issuing the new passports on March 30, the day after the original Brexit date.

Despite the postponement of Brexit, the change was implemented. The Home Office announced on Saturday that passports with and without reference to the EU will continue to be issued and that both are equally valid for travel abroad.

”In order to use up existing stocks and provide the best possible value for taxpayers, passports that include the words 'European Union' will continue to be issued for a short period,’ a department spokesperson said.
