Eastern European low-cost airline Wizz Air has applied for permission from the US Department of Transportation to start flights between Britain and the United States, according to a document dated January 26, Reuters reports.
The application concerns an exemption and license for a foreign airline for both scheduled and charter traffic within the framework of the Open Skies agreement between the countries. The low-cost carrier has previously scaled back its expansion in the Middle East after exiting its loss-making operations in Abu Dhabi in 2024.
