Eurowings continues its expansion in Sweden and at Swedavia airports and is now launching a new direct route to the German capital from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport. The Lufthansa Group's low-cost airline is thus expanding its range from Landvetter with its third destination in addition to the existing year-round route to its base in Düsseldorf, and the summer route to Hamburg.
In connection with the 2022 summer program, the airline opened a new base and nearly twenty European routes from Stockholm Arlanda Airport, and this winter they will start direct services to Düsseldorf from Kiruna and Luleå Airport.
At the end of March 2023, Eurowings will start flying directly to Berlin from Landvetter four times a week. Germany is the country that most travelers have traveled to during the year from Landvetter, and Berlin – which is considered perfect for a city break or long weekend – is one of the most popular travel destinations. Gothenburg currently lacks a direct connection to the German capital. Demand from private travelers makes up the largest share of passengers, but the increased availability is also positive for the regional business community and the tourism industry. Just over half of air travelers are incoming Germans, and Germany is one of the largest markets for visitors to the Gothenburg region.
– We welcome the investment that Eurowings is making in the region by opening another direct international route from Landvetter. Germany is our largest market and an important market for Western Sweden. Both private and business travelers from the Gothenburg region can reach Berlin more easily, and German travelers can visit Gothenburg more easily. Berlin was a growing market in the years before the pandemic and we see continued increased interest. It is gratifying that we are once again gaining stronger accessibility to the German capital, says Anna Stromwall, Airport Director at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport.
Eurowings will be operating Gothenburg Landvetter Airport (GOT) – Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) four times per week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. For more information on current direct services, visit Gothenburg Landvetter Airport.
