Eurowings launches direct flights to Düsseldorf from Kiruna and Luleå

Starting in December 2022, Eurowings will fly directly from Kiruna to Düsseldorf one day a week and from Luleå two days a week. The airline has been offering direct flights from the two Swedish destinations to Stuttgart during the winter season since December 2021. Now, the airline has chosen to offer direct flights to and from Düsseldorf, where they have their main hub in Germany, next season.

Traveling directly to and from Düsseldorf means that passengers can easily take advantage of Eurowings' large route network further into Germany and the world. It also means a larger catchment area and therefore more potential passengers as Düsseldorf provides access to a densely populated part of Germany and the Dutch market.

In recent years, Germans, second only to Norwegians, have been the most international visitors to Swedish Lapland in terms of guest nights. Between 2013 and 2019, German guest nights increased by almost 40 percent.

The two direct flights provide opportunities for local tourism businesses and international tour operators to package round trips where the guest can fly in via, for example, Luleå, travel around and experience different parts of the destination and then fly home via Kiruna, or vice versa. With two departures a week via Luleå Airport, additional business opportunities are created and increased flexibility for inbound and outbound travel is created. The route will also be appreciated by the local business community and residents in the regions who can fly directly from Luleå and Kiruna to Germany.

Between December 24, 2022 – March 25, 2023, Eurowings will operate Kiruna Airport (KRN) – Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) once a week on Saturdays with the aircraft type A320. Tickets are on sale. For more information about current traffic from Kiruna Airport: swedavia.se/kiruna

Between December 22, 2022 – March 23, 2023, Eurowings will operate Luleå Airport (LLA) – Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays with the aircraft type A320. Tickets are on sale. For more information about current traffic from Luleå Airport: swedavia.se/lulea.
