A pilot strike means that the German low-cost airline Eurowings – part of the Lufthansa group – will cancel hundreds of flights on Thursday. Tens of thousands of passengers will be affected, according to the airline.
Eurowings – which focuses on short-haul flights within Europe – says it will cause major disruption at German airports, but also at airports in Stockholm, Prague and Mallorca. Passengers are advised to check the status of scheduled flights on the Eurowings website.
On Thursday, the company's flights between Arlanda and Hamburg and Düsseldorf have been canceled. Thursday's flights between Landvetter and Düsseldorf are also canceled, according to Swedavia's website.
The strike has been called by the Vereinigung Cockpit union after negotiations on better working conditions stalled due to disagreement over a ceiling on working hours.
In September, Lufthansa reached an agreement with unions on a wage increase in the hope of ending strikes.
