Extreme heat in Spain – could exceed 45 degrees

Spain is set for its third heatwave of the summer. This time with temperatures that could reach over 45 degrees, reports Norwegian Inside. The extreme heat is expected to reach the country tomorrow and last at least until Thursday.  

The Spanish Meteorological Institute has issued a special heatwave warning, warning of significant risks to outdoor activities during the day. At the same time, there is a very high to extreme risk of forest fires in large areas. South-east Spain, the Guadalquivir Valley in Andalusia and the Ebro Valley in the northeast are highlighted as the most vulnerable areas. The inland of Mallorca and parts of the Valencia region are also covered by the warnings.

More than 1,200 people have been forced to flee a new large forest fire raging north of Madrid on Monday. The fire has already destroyed more than 26,000 hectares of land, according to rescue services to TT.
