The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced on Friday that it is extending the grounding of Boeing's 737 Max-9 indefinitely for new safety checks, Reuters reports.
They also said they will tighten monitoring of Boeing after a "plug door" was torn off on Alaska Airlines flight 1282 earlier in January.
Partly by reviewing the Boeing 737 Max-9 production line and suppliers.
As well as by considering whether an independent entity will take over certain aspects from Boeing to certify new aircraft that the FAA previously assigned to the aircraft manufacturer.
