The Public Health Agency of Sweden is extending the recommendation that everyone traveling to Sweden from countries outside the Nordic region should have a PCR test for COVID-19 upon arrival.
The reason is that people with Covid-19 are still traveling into Sweden, FHM writes in a press release.
The recommendation is that everyone who travels in gets tested as soon as possible, preferably the same day even if they have no symptoms.
”"Several countries have a greater spread of infection than Sweden, and in the infection tracing work we see that a relatively high proportion of Covid-19 cases are still linked to foreign travel," says Karin Tegmark Wisell, head of department and deputy state epidemiologist at the Swedish Public Health Agency, in the press release.
After entering from countries outside the Nordic region, people should be careful in their interactions with others and, among other things, avoid meeting people in the risk group. People should be very attentive to mild symptoms and keep their distance from others, according to FHM.
The recommendation also applies to Swedish citizens. Those who have been fully vaccinated for two weeks or people under 6 years of age are exempt.
The extended recommendation is valid until October 31.
