Authorities in the Spanish region of Catalonia on Friday urged residents to stay at home and avoid gatherings of more than ten people, in an attempt to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Over 28,000 corona-related deaths have been reported in Spain, which is one of the countries in Europe that has been worst affected by the spread of the virus.
The country eased restrictions at the end of June when the spread of the infection appeared to be under control. However, as a result of new outbreaks in several parts of the country, several regional authorities have taken measures to slow the spread.
The city of Barcelona, Spain's second largest city, has seen another rise in the number of cases over the past week, and now there is growing concern about a second wave of infection.
