The Finland ferry is changing – because of the war

Viking Line is lowering the speed on the Finland ferry. From Monday, the departure from Stockholm will be brought forward by half an hour., Finnish Yle writes. The boat departs from Helsinki 15 minutes earlier than before.

The reason is rising fuel prices after the Iran war and that lower speeds save fuel.

"We'd rather do this than be forced to raise ticket prices," Communications Director Johanna Boijer-Svahnström tells Yle.

Tallink Silja made the same timetable adjustment on 1 April. Both from Stockholm and Helsinki, departures have been moved forward by a quarter of an hour.
