Qatar Airways is further expanding its flight schedules for Sweden, Denmark and Norway ahead of summer. The airline is resuming flights from Oslo this week and restoring a significant portion of its previous capacity. This summer, the carrier will operate to over 160 global destinations via its premium hub in Doha, Hamad International Airport. Average cabin factors in the UK and Europe are increasing by 3–5 percent week on week, signalling strong and accelerating demand.
As of this week, the airline is increasing the number of departures on important routes in Sweden, Denmark and Norway:
Oslo has resumed with 7 departures per week
• Copenhagen increases from 7 to 10 departures per week
• Stockholm increases from 4 to 7 departures per week
Qatar Airways now serves 41 airports in the UK and Europe, following the resumption of routes to Prague, Zagreb, Brussels, Lisbon, Budapest, Oslo, Belgrade and Düsseldorf.
New travel renders:
- Japan is emerging as a clear leisure destination from Northern Europe.
- Sales to Japan increased by 70 percent last week compared to the week before.
- The increase is largely driven by Denmark, where sales rose by 75 per cent week on week.
- The trend is consistent across the UK and Europe, with the latest sales to Japan increasing by 63 percent year-on-year.
- From 15 July, Qatar Airways will resume flights to Tokyo Haneda, with daily departures from 1 August, offering Nordic travellers more opportunities to travel there.
- A clear shift is visible away from traditional VFR routes, that is, visiting friends and relatives trips, for example to India and Pakistan, and towards premium leisure travel destinations, including Australia, Thailand and Japan.
- Data indicates a broader recovery for discretionary long-haul travel, with British travellers prioritising experiences and dream destinations.
