Finnair turns to profit

Finnish airline Finnair reports a pre-tax profit of EUR 2 million for the first quarter of 2018 (10.0).

A pre-tax profit of -6.3 million euros was expected, according to Inquiry Financial's forecast compilation.

Net sales amounted to EUR 635 million (554). Net sales were expected to be EUR 637 million.

Global air traffic is expected to grow strongly in 2018 and Finnair FIA1S -13,39% expects increased competition, especially on routes between Europe and Asia and Europe and North America.

Finnair plans to increase its capacity by over 15 percent in 2018, most of which in the first half of the year. Passenger volume is expected to increase roughly in line with capacity, while revenue growth is expected to be somewhat lower.
