Finnair is canceling all flights to mainland China between February 6 and February 29, 2020 in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, according to a press release.
Furthermore, Finnair will cancel all flights to Guangzhou between February 5 and March 29. Finnair will also stop accepting bookings for flights to Mainland China between January 31 and February 29.
However, to give its customers who are currently traveling the opportunity to travel home, Finnair will continue to fly between Helsinki and China until February 6.
”"Our customers who are currently traveling want to come home to Europe and China and we also want to bring our staff back to their respective bases in Finland and China. These flights are necessary given the number of customers we have in Europe and China and the limited availability of alternative flights at the moment," says Jaako Schildt, Chief Operating Officer at Finnair, in a comment.
The company currently estimates that the direct financial consequences for the company are relatively limited.
