Finnish airline Finnair reports a pre-tax profit of -2 million euros for the fourth quarter of 2022. Analysts had expected -58.82 million euros, according to Infront's forecast compilation.
Finnair's operating profit came in at 38 million euros, which was higher than expectations of a loss of 16 million euros.
Net sales amounted to EUR 687 million. Expectations were EUR 653 million.
No dividend is proposed for the full year 2022.
Regarding the forecast for 2023, it predicts a significant improvement in turnover, but not a return to levels before the pandemic, i.e. the full year 2019, which was the most recent with normal market conditions.
However, Finnair emphasizes that all forward forecasts are uncertain and that an update will be made in connection with the first quarter report in 2023.
”"There continues to be a lot of uncertainty in the operating environment, with high fuel prices and closed Russian airspace. The impact of inflation on demand is also difficult to assess," Finnair writes.
