Finnair is now taking the next step in its renewed strategy – with Finnishness at the heart of the brand. It is not just about a visual update, but about a holistic experience where culture, emotion and identity meet the traveler throughout the entire customer journey.
A central part of the renewal is a completely new musical universe created by Finnish composer Lauri Porra, great-grandson of Jean Sibelius. The new musical universe, Travel agent ("The Traveler"), is inspired by the Finnish mental landscape, nature and the emotions that arise when we travel.
Starting February 27, you can hear the music on board selected aircraft – and gradually on all Finnair flights, in lounges and in various digital and in-person customer meetings.
A sound of Finnish happiness
The music in Travel agent consists of both a main work and several shorter pieces, including new boarding music. Traditional Finnish instruments such as jouhikko (stringed lyre) and kantele (Finnish zither) give the composition an authentic and timeless sound.
Porra describes the music as an open space for the listener's own interpretations:
Music is like a blank canvas where everyone can paint their own adventure.
The work is dedicated to all travelers – whether you are heading for vacation, family, or an important business meeting. The goal is to create a calm and atmospheric moment for what lies ahead.
A journey into Finnishness
For over 100 years, Finnair has been carrying Finns, businesses and culture around the world. Today, the majority of international visitors to Finland travel with Finnair – and every flight is an opportunity to convey a sense of security, reliability and the unique Finnish warmth.
The new music is another step in making Finns proud and arousing curiosity around the world.
The music will also be released on Spotify and other streaming platforms on February 27th.
