Finnair's passenger traffic figures for February show a clear improvement compared to the same month a year ago, but due to the omicron variant of the Covid virus, no increase was achieved from January.

Finnair flew 443,000 passengers in February, which was 408 percent more than in February 2021, but 1.8 percent fewer than in January, which however contained three more days. This is according to a press release.

"The impact of COVID-19, including strict travel restrictions in several countries due to the omicron variant, has continued to impact all passenger numbers. This is particularly evident in the North Atlantic and Asian operations, while travel from Finland and Sweden to the US and Thailand opened in November," Finnair writes, further noting that the Ukraine crisis did not affect the month's figures.

Capacity measured as available seat kilometers (ASK) increased by 473 percent compared to the same month last year but decreased by 11.8 percent compared to January.
