Finnair's passenger traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometers (RPK), increased by 5.5 percent in December, compared to the same month last year.

Capacity, measured as ASK, rose by 11.1 percent while the load factor, the ratio between the number of paying passengers and the maximum number of passengers allowed, fell 4 percentage points to 76.4 percent.

In total, all companies within the Finnair Group transported a little more than 1 million passengers during the month, almost 9 percent more compared to the same month the previous year.

For the whole of 2018, a new record of 13.3 million passengers was recorded.

Finnair has performed poorly on the stock market over the past year. Over the past year, the share has lost just over 40 percent. However, during the autumn's stock market turbulence, the airline has fared well, rising 16.7 percent on the Helsinki Stock Exchange over the past three months.
