Finnlines has launched a new bus connection between Cityterminalen in Stockholm and the port of Kapellskär. The initiative will make it easier for foot passengers to travel on the company's ferries and cruises to Åland and Finland.
The new bus route began operating on August 25 and will initially operate on selected Tuesdays. The departures are aligned with Finnlines' timetable and are aimed at both travelers on day cruises via Åland and passengers continuing to Naantali in Finland.
“This is a clear step towards improving the overall passenger experience. We want your journey with us to feel smooth and enjoyable from the moment you leave the city,” says Marco Palmu, Head of Passenger Services at Finnlines.
Connects Stockholm to Kapellskär
The bus connection means that travelers without a car have a direct connection between central Stockholm and Finnlines' passenger terminal in Kapellskär.
The line is operated by buses with 50 seats. Tickets can be booked up to 24 hours before departure and are also sold on board, subject to availability.
Finnlines operates the Kapellskär–Långnäs–Nådendal route with the sister ships Finnsirius and Finncanopus, which entered service in 2023 and 2024 respectively. The ships offer, among other things, restaurants, bars, and spa and wellness facilities.
Focus on day cruises
The shipping company also offers shorter day cruises via Åland. From Sweden these depart on Mondays and Tuesdays, while departures from Finland take place Wednesday to Sunday.
On some trips, passengers change between Finnsirius and Finncanopus in Långnäs, where a new passenger terminal was inaugurated in May.
The new bus route is launched a year after Finnlines passed one million passengers. In 2025, over one million people traveled on the company's passenger routes between Sweden and Finland, Germany and Poland, and Finland and Germany.
