A restaurant caught fire and all guests were evacuated from the area. The fire started in a restaurant in the park, just north of Copenhagen, at half past eight. Flames shot from the entire upper floor of the building, a terrace.

Shortly before midnight, the fire service announced on Twitter that the fire was under control.

All guests were led out of the area by park and rescue personnel, while a large number of fire engines arrived at the scene.

– We cannot have guests there when we are going to get the fire under control, said Martin Bakke at the North Zealand Police during the evening.

Witnesses at the scene described how black smoke and flames rose from the restaurant building, after which the surrounding area was filled with smoke.

There are currently no reports of any injuries. Nothing has been said about what caused the fire.

Bakken, or Dyrehavsbakken, which is its full name, is the world's oldest amusement park and opened in 1583. Not far from the burning building stands perhaps the park's most famous attraction – a roller coaster from 1932 – reports the newspaper Ekstra Bladet.

The fire broke out just before closing time, which is 9 p.m. The park is open in the fall for the first time ever.
