First Camp, Scandinavia's largest chain of campsites and resorts, continues its expansion and strengthens its presence in Värmland by acquiring the three popular destinations in the Sommarviksgruppen – Sommarvik (Årjäng Camping & Stugor), Haganäset (Charlottenberg Camping & Stugor) and Herrgårdsliv (Kristinehamns Herrgårdscamping & Stugor).

With these acquisitions, First Camp reaches a total of 78 destinations in five countries. The opening is scheduled for October 1, 2025.

Sommarvik in Årjäng near the E18 is a five-star destination with many returning guests from both Sweden and Norway. With their idyllic locations by lakes and forests, as well as a wide range of cottages and activities for the whole family, all three campsites are appreciated for their high quality.

We are both happy and humbled that the Fransson family has chosen to hand over their life's work to us. This is a well-run business with fine and popular destinations and many loyal guests, and we will cherish all of that. Thanks to this, guests at the Sommarvik Group's destinations will also be able to take advantage of all the benefits of belonging to First Camp, not least the opportunity to earn points and stay for free through our popular First Camp Club loyalty program,” says Johan Söör, CEO of First Camp.

Sommarvik in Årjäng and Haganäset in particular have a large number of seasonal guests and through our local teams on site we want to take care of them as well as before. Nothing will change in the conditions of the seasonal guests and we look forward to getting to know them more. We know how important they are to the community on site,” Johan continues.

Christer Fransson, CEO and founder of Sommarviksgruppen, comments:

Our journey as camping hosts started with Sommarvik in 1979/80 in Årjäng with 5,000 guest nights. We and Sommarvik AB were involved in creating the First Camp brand in 2003. Haganäset was purchased the same year and we began construction of Herrgårdscampingen in 2010. The Sommarviksgruppen now has over 250,000 guest nights in Värmland, is in constant growth and development. With First Camp as a capital-strong operator, it feels like our circle is closed and we wish them, all staff and partners all the best in their continued hosting.”

The Sommarviksgruppen and partners have around a hundred employees employed during the season.

With the acquisitions, First Camp strengthens its presence in Värmland and around Lake Vänern, and with this acquisition gains a total of 10 destinations in the area.

According to the press release.
