KLM's new A321neo landed for the first time at Stockholm Arlanda Airport with its new plane, which is 21% more fuel efficient and offers more comfort with wider seats and more space for luggage.

“This is an important step in our fleet renewal program. Over the next few years, KLM will invest 7 billion euros in fleet renewal. On our European medium-haul routes, we will replace the older Boeing 737s with Airbus A320neo and A321neo. We will receive three more A321neo this year,” says Tom Verbugt, General Manager North Europe Air France and KLM.

”Neo” stands for new engine option and these aircraft are equipped with new engines that emit less CO2 than the ones they replace. Measured per passenger tonne-kilometre, the A321neo is approximately 21% more fuel efficient.

”Our goal is to reduce our emissions by 30% by 2030. The addition of the new generation of aircraft is crucial to reducing emissions from aviation. In addition to being 21% more fuel efficient and producing less noise, it also brings several improvements for our passengers, such as more comfort and convenience thanks to wider seats, larger tables and more spacious luggage compartments and a wider aisle. Each seat is equipped with a USB-C port and a holder for a mobile or tablet. We hope that our passengers will appreciate our latest addition to the fleet,” says Maria Hagelberg, Marketing Manager North Europe Air France and KLM.

With the new aircraft series, KLM continues its tradition of giving unique names to its aircraft. Various themes have appeared over the past 104 years, from names of members of the royal family to bridges, aviation pioneers and national parks. The theme for this aircraft series was chosen by KLM staff and is butterflies.

According to the press release.
