In April 2018, Scandic signed an agreement with Midroc to operate a hotel at Oceanpiren in Helsingborg.
On Wednesday, September 5, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new hotel, which is expected to be completed in the fall of 2021. It will be Scandic's second hotel in Helsingborg and will accommodate approximately 180 rooms, conference facilities, gym, restaurant and bar.
The new Scandic hotel is part of the large H+ project where the old industrial port in Helsingborg is being transformed into a modern urban area, called Oceanhamnen. The industrial area will be completely converted to house hotels, housing, offices and shops. A World Trade Center is planned in the same building as the hotel, which gives Scandic great opportunities for commercial collaborations, while the hotel will appeal to both business and leisure travelers.
– The new hotel will strengthen our position as the leading player in the region and be a good complement to our existing portfolio both in the region and in Helsingborg. When it is completed, it will be one of Helsingborg's new landmarks and we will be able to give our guests a truly wonderful hotel experience in a completely new and exciting district, says Åsa Keller Wannem, District Director South, Scandic.
