Just over a year and a half after the inauguration, the first summer tourists can now land at the newly built airport outside Sälen.
This weekend, the first tourists will arrive by plane from Bromma and Ängelholm - a domestic initiative that was supposed to be significantly larger initially, but which the pandemic put a stop to.
However, the airport's CEO sees the flights for a few weeks this summer as a first step towards the year-round initiative that is being aimed for.
– We also have big plans for the winter with several flight routes, says Gunnar Lenman, CEO.
Inside Scandinavian Mountains Airport, preparations are now underway to ensure that corona restrictions are maintained. How things will turn out in the future – with, for example, corona tests on site or other flight restrictions – remains to be seen.
