At 11 a.m. on Thursday, the first Swedish plane will take off for Greece after several months of flight suspension.

Tui's communications manager Adam Györki confirms this to TT, and says that they have now received permission to land at Rodhos.

The travelers booked on the charter flight to Rhodes have been checking in at Arlanda since 5 a.m. this morning, and well into Thursday morning it was still uncertain how things would go. But now Tui has finally received permission from the Greek authorities.

The announcement came several hours late due to complications with the landing permit.

Farmer Magnus Tuulik from Kristinehamn is looking forward to a rain-free week with his family in Rhodes. He noted in advance of Tui's announcement that there has been a lot of back and forth regarding the trip, which he booked on Monday.

”"If they decide that we are not allowed to land, there is not much we can do about it. We will have to accept it," he tells TT.

Lisa Ramanovich from Bredäng has checked in but was worried that the trip would not take place.

”"There have been so many different messages. First the hotel we booked wouldn't open and then Greece wouldn't let Swedes in. Then there were tears," she says.

”"But then we thought Tui had solved it. And if we don't leave now, the whole holiday is ruined."”

But now the trip is over.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' advice against non-essential travel to a number of countries, including Greece, was lifted on Wednesday.
