The ski season doesn't end with the sports holidays. Now mountain destinations are gearing up with flexible cancellation policies and corona routines ahead of Easter.

The final big weekend of the ski season is normally Easter week. A weekend that last year became bleak in the Swedish mountains due to the pandemic and strong recommendations not to travel.

Sigge Jungell, CEO of Funäsfjällen, is optimistic about Easter in just over three weeks.

”"It's almost completely full and there's very little accommodation left to choose from. During this year's season we've had a low cancellation rate."”

”"The booking situation is and has been fantastically good. We are 25 percent above last year's figures. Then of course it is individual businesses, such as restaurants, that can have a tough time," says Sigge Jungell.

Funäsfjällen collects bookings for six areas, including Funäsdalen, Tännäs, Tänndalen and Bruksvallarna.

”"The snow situation is good. We've had a period of slightly warmer weather, but then cold weather again. The snow is settling down but on the other hand is a little more resistant to the coming spring heat."”

Have you had problems with corona outbreaks or queues?

”"No, neither during Christmas nor during the sports holidays have there been problems with corona. There have also been no problems with lift queues, it is easy to arrange pens."”

”"On the other hand, it has occasionally been problematic with entire families entering grocery stores to buy food, even though there are clear signs that only one person per household should enter," says Sigge Jungell.

Skistar, which dominates the Swedish mountain world, cannot comment on the booking situation before Easter as the listed company is in a quiet period.
