Flights to Beirut suspended

Air France-KLM is stopping all flights on Monday and Tuesday "due to the security situation," the company's spokesperson said.

Lufthansa is stopping all departures for a week, until August 5th.

The low-cost airline Transavia also announces that it is stopping flights to and from Beirut.

The stop comes at a time when tensions are rising between Israel and Lebanon after the attack on the Golan Heights in which at least twelve children and young people were killed.

Israeli ministers have significantly raised the tone against the Islamist group Hezbollah and there is great concern about escalation in the region.

The Swedish Foreign Ministry has been urging all Swedes in Lebanon to leave the country since October 2023. On Sunday, Foreign Minister Tobias Billström (M) reminded people not to travel to the country.

”"I have said it several times and I say it again: it is necessary for Swedish citizens to leave Lebanon or to refrain from going to the country in question. Please heed this clear call from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," the Foreign Minister writes on X.
