Airport operator Swedavia continues to bleed money and reports its fourth consecutive quarter of losses during the pandemic. A government restructuring grant of SEK 239 million only partially cushioned the blow.
Travel at Swedavia's airports decreased by 86 percent during the period, to 954,000 passengers.
The collapse of air travel meant that the state-owned airport operator suffered an operating loss of SEK 381 million during the first quarter of the year, despite the restructuring support.
Net sales during the quarter plummeted to 457 million, down from 1,245 million a year earlier.
A short time Before the report, the government announced that it wanted to close Bromma Airport, partly after Swedavia concluded in an analysis that it was not possible to financially justify operating the airport.
According to Swedaviac CEO Jonas Abrahamsson, it is important to develop Arlanda to ensure sustainable airport capacity in Sweden.
”"This applies to the airport itself, but also to transport to and from it - for example rail traffic," writes Abrahamsson in a comment.
”Just as with all long-term infrastructure decisions, it is desirable to have as broad a political base as possible to create clarity and predictability for all actors involved,” he adds.
