Frankfurt Airport has been hit by delays and cancellations "due to a technical problem with German air traffic control," they write on their website.

People are now advised to contact their airlines for more information about departures and to take into account that some journeys may take longer than expected.

The airport is one of Europe's largest in terms of the number of passengers.
