Passengers at Malmö Airport were welcomed by Airport Director Nils Funke ahead of the first flights with Wizz Air to the two new destinations Bucharest and Iasi. With a ribbon cutting and cupcakes in the airline's colors, the two new direct routes to Romania were inaugurated, both of which will be an important addition to Malmö Airport and increase accessibility to Europe.
As one of the fastest growing airlines in Europe, Wizz Air offers an extensive network of destinations and the two new direct routes from Malmö Airport increase accessibility for people from Skåne to Europe. On Tuesday, October 29, Malmö Airport inaugurated the first flights to Bucharest and Iasi in Romania, both a welcome addition to the airport's offering. The new routes will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
– Wizz Air's choice to expand and offer two new routes to and from Malmö Airport is a welcome addition to the total range of destinations from the airport, says Nils Funke, Airport Manager for Malmö Airport. The new direct routes will meet the increased demand for travel to international destinations and both Bucharest and Iasi therefore feel extra exciting. Wizz Air with its extensive network plays an important role in Swedavia's goal of enabling people to meet, whether for business, leisure or to visit family and friends, he says.
“We are delighted to expand our network with Bucharest and Iasi, offering our passengers more opportunities to explore some of Europe’s most beautiful and culturally rich destinations. Malmö is a fantastic addition that offers unique experiences for travelers seeking adventure, relaxation and everything in between. We look forward to welcoming passengers on board and helping them create unforgettable memories,” says Tamara. Nikiforova, Senior Manager Communications, Wizz Air.
