Today, several Finnish unions are starting a major strike in protest against the government's planned labor reforms. 

100,000 Finnish workers are expected to participate. Several kindergartens are closed today and mail will not be distributed. Construction sites will also be closed, writes Hufvudstadsbladet.

Air and train traffic and transport will also be affected. Finnair has canceled around 500 departures on Thursday and according to Yle, air traffic is expected to be practically down on Thursday and Friday. Parts of train traffic, as well as local and regional bus traffic, will stop on Friday. 

Parts of the retail sector, restaurants and hotels may close when staff go on strike. 

Among other things, the unions are critical of a proposal that limits the right to strike and the government's cuts to the benefit system.
