Cabin crew at four of the German airline Lufthansa's subsidiaries are holding a full-day strike on Sunday. The staff union UFO is demanding higher pay and better working conditions for cabin crew at Eurowings, Germanwings, Sunexpress and Cityline.

The strike, which affected flights mainly from Hamburg, Munich, Berlin-Tegel and Cologne airports, was due to last for six hours on Sunday morning. However, Ufo extended the strike until midnight on Monday night after tensions with parent company Lufthansa escalated.

Lufthansa said the strike is ”illegal” and ”threatens our jobs.”.

”"It's not just wrong. It sends signals of a new level of threats against our cabin crew," the union responded and extended the strike.

The parties are scheduled to meet again on Monday.
