Representatives of the German UFO union have decided not to continue the strike by cabin crew that has forced German airline giant Lufthansa to cancel flights with the low-cost carrier Germanwings since Monday.

The dispute is essentially about wages and working conditions for cabin crew, a total of 22,000 workers. The union will decide on Sunday how to continue the fight, a spokesman told Reuters.

Since Monday, only 20 of 220 scheduled flights have been operated due to the strike. Lufthansa subsidiaries have managed to mitigate the impact by offering seats to stranded passengers.

Over two days in November, UFO organized a strike that resulted in the cancellation of 1,500 Lufthansa flights, affecting around 180,000 passengers. The cost is estimated to be up to $20 million, equivalent to 210 million kronor.
