The coronavirus has already cost the global aviation industry nearly SEK 300 billion in reduced travel, and globally, the industry organization International Air Transport Association (IATA) is now predicting a decrease in air travel this year of 0.6 percent. 

This can be compared to IATA's December forecast, which was for an increase in air travel in 2020 of 4.7 percent. If the forecast comes true, it will be the first time since 2009 that air travel in the world has decreased. In December, the global airline industry was expected to have a net profit of $29.3 billion in 2020, but this has now been replaced by more gloomy forecasts:

The coronavirus is expected to weigh on Southeast Asian airlines with $27.8 billion in reduced revenue, of which Chinese airlines account for revenue losses of $12.8 billion.

Globally, the figure is estimated at $29.3 billion, equivalent to 288 billion Swedish kronor.
